Leo Parente brings up a !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! . Mazda announced a P2 program a year ago, but nothing has happened with it since. With the GX Mazda 6's being painfully slow now, and probably difficult to bring up to speed to match GTD, Mazda could revive the P2 diesel program. It's not like the whole thing's been scrapped, either. Pictures (either here on Twitter) from Road America show that Mazda still has a P2 car, presumably with some form of the Skyactiv diesel in the back.

Waiting to see how reliable the GX cars are before committing to P2? They've been doing a lot better, and as an engineering exercise, I think they've meet expectations. Now, get them in the road cars and use that P2 program they seem to have ready. The more diesels on the track the better.

Makes sense, though I'm sure Mazda won't commit until they know what the actual regulations will be. Earliest I could see it happening at this point would be mid season 2014 in preparation for a full 2015 campaign.

Hey, I posted one such photo!
Is it wrong that I laughed? I'm fairly certain this had to be one of Level 5's Lola coupes. I haven't been able to determine which one, and if it's on lease like it had been to Dempsey or Black Swan. I wasn't even able to verify this thing even had an engine in it. There's a GX car just beyond the roadgoing 6 to the right. I think that may have been Speed Sources' third car. Did I mention they were slow enough to make me stop making Delta Wing jokes? Boy were my feet in my mouth come Sunday afternoon.

I'd think that too, but SpeedSource does stupid things now. I mean, they built the Mazda6s in just a few months after all, and that's far from off-the-shelf stuff like a Lola and a Mazda diesel supposedly finished for Dempsey (but never run with Dempsey, obviously) before Le Mans this year.

The Dempsey one is still in the now Dempsey Del Piero branded shop, sitting there under lease from L5 with the Judd engine still in it, and that one IS the former BSR car. Maybe it's one of the two L5 spyders converted? Or maybe it's Dyson's second car from 2011, the Oryx car that was sold when they bought the two B12/60s only to continue racing the first car from 2011 alongside the first B12/60 and never take the second tub out of the box? That would assume Mazda got it upgraded to 2012 specs at Lola, but I'd imagine that wouldn't be too hard considering it was already in 2011 spec.

Just when I thought we had a definitive count of all of the North American Lolas... Also, can the 44's be converted to 80/60 tubs? Is the roof not apart of the homologation of the tub itself?
